By tabpeelerAn employment background check most often involves basic information which would include the date of birth of the applicant, the previous work experiences if there are any, prior employers, and sometimes including references if being requested. Then again, even if the checking involves fundamental information, it cannot furnish the employers with everything they would want to know about a certain applicant, but such quantity of information can already give the employers a decisive factor whether to hire or to refuse a jobseeker.
The checking is definitely imperative in the success of a business company especially if a certain application has to do with a sensitive position. But in general, most employers conduct a checking due to the imminent business climate nowadays. It must be noted that the information that are being required in an employment check has its relation with the kind and nature of work that is being applied for. Say for instance, hiring a jobseeker with the criminal records can be risky if the work deals with children. In this case, the employer must be cautious to protect the welfare of the children. Those who had been convicted due to sexual harassment may prove disadvantageous especially if in the working place, there are a good number of female employees. Another one is if the application is for a construction worker, the applicant must furnish the employer with his medical history to check his physical fitness to do the job. In addition to, employers must take extra effort to know that the applicants do not have a drug related problem for such condition may affect the office environment.
In lined with the idea that prevention is better than cure, such background check leaves the employers the peace of mind that among the interested applicants to be hired in their company, they have made the right decisions in the hiring process.
Spiral Lights Spotted in Norway
By tabpeelerThe Bulava missile was test-fired the same day from the Dmitry Donskoi submarine in the White Sea. The said test, however, failed at the third stage. Background check on the navy’s reaction, it can be noted that during the investigation regarding the spiral light, the Russian navy already denied news of the missile test fire; the denial came after the news came out.
Evidence presented today was two videos: first of yet another spiral light display which appeared in over Norway yesterday caused by a failed missile test launched; and second was a 3D simulation of what could happen if the said missile test launch would fail. This was put together by British engineer Doug Ellison.
Background check on how the mystery started came about when a blue light was seen to soar up from behind a mountain. It then stopped in mid air and began to move in circles thus creating the spiral which seconds later covered the sky which lasted for 10 to 12 minutes. Those who have seen it described it as a big fireball that spun around thus creating the spiral.
Truls Lynne Hansen from the Tromso Geophysical Observatory agreed to the claims of the light’s origin; may really be from a missile test launch failure. Earlier part of the day, the military took back their statement thus confirming that the lights were indeed from the failed launch test from the White Sea.
To further end speculations, air traffic control at Tromso also explained that the time duration in which the light was visible was too far to be an astronomical phenomenon.

Internet – A Factor

But the human brain apparently keeps evolving and continued to search for a perfect tool to do lots of things for them in a very convenient manner. Now we can do almost anything we could ever imagine on the internet.
I say, those who have thought of this concept must be real geniuses. I mean how can one be so out in the open searching on those huge search engines while having the luxury of keeping their privacy? It’s really good they have thought of their mini-background checks by way of asking for a password of some sort. Otherwise lots of people would really get annoyed at a mess or a disaster that’s just waiting to happen with all the unorganized stuff piling up on their net space let alone keep track of information because there would be no way to identify who-owns-what. And just think, the internet keeps expanding and branching out to cater to different needs and to various groups.
For instance, business transacted on the internet could be quite stressful in that one is not fully aware of what he is getting himself into. So aside from the client doing some background check on the company he is planning to have a transaction with, the company will, in turn, have a thorough assessment on that particular client as well. So devising a method for security on both client and service-provider is a genius thing to do. So security on the net isn’t just something you have for yourself but something that you also impart with others and perhaps, this is how trust is actually gained on the internet. This is not only true for big-time transactions but with even the simplest interactions made via the internet such as the networking sites that are becoming so popular and so widely-used as of today and online shopping (which is also a better option for some in contrast with the real feat where one has to really walk and go through several aisles to pick an item. Who would, after all, not want to just sit in the comfort of their own homes while doing their shopping with just their fingers?)
So we see the internet has really become a household item (well at least for those who can afford to have internet in their homes). It is fast becoming a necessity for people of varying ages and occupations—kids, young adults, young professionals, elderly people, housewives, fathers, celebrities, just name it and they would most probably than not, have good use for the internet. And we continue to look out for its latest development like parents anticipating a milestone in their kids’ lives. Who knows, we might, once again, be left in awe at one of man’s greatest achievement that is the internet.
Great Break Time
By TimykingAt last, for the first time this week I had a break from dental work. It can be really stressful at times to keep staring at people’s mouth. My fellow dentist in Costa Mesa and best friend, John, calls me a slave of the dentist’s chair. There’s never a time when I don’t ask him to call me back every time he calls at the clinic.
So anyway, since I had a free time, I started watching my favorite TV sport, basketball. I was really so excited while I’m watching the game, a bit of suspense and nervous. But then my favorite basketball player, Kobe Bryant and his team won the game.
I’m a huge fan of him and I always make sure to give time watching all his game even if I had my implant crown procedure with my patient. I’m so obsessed whenever he’s playing; sometimes I forget that I had my patient waiting for me. But as long as I’m able to return back to reality at the end of it, I’m happy.
Oh well, the phone is ringing. It must be John, again.
The Solution to Stay Young and Live Long

The said age is the start when the body tends to feel ailments and bones become weaker. Their aim to stop the clock for people is to give them new inner parts like bones and organs that may keep them younger—plus the fact that it would keep also rebuild on its own (solving the problem with transplant rejection). This idea may be similar to the one in Bicentennial man where a humanoid invented organs to help in medical transplant instead of wanting to have a lasting life).
Ideas of regaining a lasting life, especially that of keeping the younger look compared to the age may be one of the many wants man is aiming for. Youth has always been associated with strength both of physical and mental. The story presented by BBC manifests the ideas presented in some of the Sci Fi stories that today’s technological era gives where replacing or even regenerating body parts to regain the look and strength is done medically, the fairytales that are usually told in bedtime stories gives us this idea through magic amulets that rejuvenates beauty and power or the very famous fountain of youth which brings back youthfulness once a person drink its waters.
The ideas of getting back at age from the wrinkles and brittleness that time gives is a hopeful idea to live longer and better. One reason is the fear of death. Another reason is the want to do more things mainly because they enjoy life. Unfortunately the want to live longer and stay young is being thwarted by man’s hardheadedness in following what should be observed: proper diet and clean living.
If we try to think back on ancient years, even before the time of Christ, men never had sodas to drink nor preserved foods to eat. They don’t have cars and factories that contribute to air pollution and the technology has not kept us inside the house where we just sit and not move much. In other words, life back then was pretty healthier.
There may be no medical discoveries that help cure illnesses, then again there are no reason for such ailments, like what we have presently, come about. This is but another fact that made life longer those days. Pollution bring about a lot of problems in health, even the food we eat produces poison and allergens. The body is kept strong with good and healthy food not to mention the way of labor was manual, even with their travels; people walk instead of riding cars while computers and vacuum cleaners are not used to do documents or keep the place clean.
What keeps youthfulness for keeps is healthy lifestyle: Eating a balance diet of fruits, vegetable and lean meat without the preservatives and exercise. We have depended so much on technology that even kids prefer to stay indoors in front of the television or play games with computers. The result of background check in man’s present way of living is definitely a big impact on keeping our lives, even over eighty. This is the fact brought to us by our want to stay young and to live long.
Missing and Unheard
By tabpeelerFrom domestic violence to those that even involves the government, time and again have we reflected on the situations that cause disturbances within our own home that there are times we don’t know whether we could even trust ourselves and the decisions we make. But of all the criminal activities ever committed the most troubling perhaps is that of the child kidnapping. Some are found; most are missing.
Kidnapping is detaining a person as hostage against his or her will. To picture a child being together with a kidnapper in an unknown room, nothing but plea for family is more than just a heartbreaking thought. The feeling of helplessness is but torture to the onlookers, more so for the family of the victim. For them it is death.
According to FBI’s National Crime Information Center (NCIC), the number of missing persons that was reported from 1982 to 2000 has increased at 468%. What is more staggering is the fact that there are even times that someone trusted and known, or more so related is the perpetrator himself. In the US, 49% are what we categorized as “family kidnapping”. “Acquaintance kidnapping” is 27%, while a “stranger kidnapping” ranks lowest with 24%.
There are ways that can help prevent this from happening. Doing a background check is one way that can secure the family. A Background check can be done through private investigators or through law enforcement themselves. There are even times that this has been great help in detecting a serial killer or kidnapper for that matter by means of their background both of family and, if there are, criminal. Even health has become an issue in going through a background check.
A family makes the greatest contribution in the community, and the child is its warmth. With a family in jeopardy the rest are shattered. There is nothing far more devastating than the unheard cries of the helpless victims of kidnapping—them missing and the rest unknowing whether they are dead or yet to be found.
SCOTT BROWN TO WIN MA SENATE SEAT SUPPORTS SHARED PARENTING

The race to fill the late Ted Kennedy’s Senate seat has become a national media story, as polls show that upstart Massachusetts Republican State Senator Scott Brown (pictured) has pulled even with favored Democratic Party candidate Martha Coakley, Massachusetts’ Attorney General. President Obama has come to Massachusetts to try to save the race for Coakley–this in a state where Democrats outnumber Republicans 3-1.
Senator Brown has been a co-sponsor of Fathers & Families’ Shared Parenting Bill, has met with F & F Board Chairman Ned Holstein, MD, and has spoken at a F & F meeting. Dr. Holstein explains:
Our Shared Parenting Bill, which Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick has publicly pledged to sign, would end the barbaric practice of judges stripping fathers (or sometimes mothers) of custody of their children without a sound, stated basis. Family courts must protect the relationship between children and both parents after a divorce, instead of allowing an angry mother (or father) to push the other parent out.
Fathers & Families recently circulated the message below to its Massachusetts members concerning some of Brown and Coakley’s positions, and we urge our members to vote on Tuesday, January 19.
Distinct Differences Among Senate Candidates
The three candidates hoping to fill the US Senate seat of the late Teddy Kennedy have distinctly different records on some of the issues of concern to Fathers and Families members. In alphabetical order, the candidates’ records are given.
Scott Brown
* Shared Parenting: As a member of the Massachusetts legislature for over five years, Senator Brown has clearly supported a presumption of shared parenting after divorce. In fact, he was a co-sponsor of Fathers and Families’ HB 1460, a bill which calls for just such a presumption. As a child of divorce, he also has supported shared parenting in conversations with me. Members may recall that Brown spoke at a Fathers and Families meeting.
* Restraining Order Abuse: We are not aware that Senator Brown has taken any public position on the abuse of restraining orders.
* Gerald Amirault Parole: We are not aware that Senator Brown has taken any public position on this issue (see below for a description of this matter.)
Martha Coakley
* Shared Parenting: We are unaware that Attorney General Coakley has taken any position concerning shared parenting. We phoned her campaign headquarters requesting information, but so far have not received a return call. Should we receive a response, we will let you know as soon as possible.
* Restraining Order Abuse: Coakley has been a supporter of current restraining order policies as Middlesex County District Attorney from 1999 to 2007 and as Attorney General since 2007. She has also supported mandatory prosecution of restraining order violations, even when those violations are trivial, unintentional, or harmless.
I appeared on the Greater Boston television show with Coakley and hostess Emily Rooney, as well as a member of Fathers and Families who had been the victim of a questionable restraining order. His ex-wife had invaded his home without invitation and had begun rummaging through the contents. Our member called the police to have her escorted out. They did so, but our member ended up as the recipient of a restraining order for this incident. Coakley defended restraining order policies on the show, and did not acknowledge the need for any changes.
* Gerald Amirault Parole: Amirault was convicted of preposterous child sexual abuse charges in the 1980’s in the notorious Fells Acre Case. He was imprisoned for many years. In 2001, the Massachusetts Parole Board stated, “It is clearly a matter of public knowledge that, at the minimum, real and substantial doubt exists concerning petitioner’s conviction.”
Indeed, it is hard to know how anyone could be convicted of raping a young girl with a two-foot butcher knife without leaving any injuries, or of tying naked children to trees within view of a highway and visitors to the childcare center. But Coakley lobbied hard and persistently to keep Amirault in prison to avoid embarrassing the Middlesex County District Attorney’s office that had originally prosecuted him. As a result of her efforts, Amirault spent three more years in jail until he was finally paroled during the Romney administration. The Wall Street Journal recently criticized Coakley’s handling of Gerald Amirault’s parole here.
Joe Kennedy
We are unaware of any public position by Mr. Kennedy on any of the three issues listed above. His campaign manager promised to ask Mr. Kennedy his positions, and we will report those if and when we get a response.
As a 501c3 charitable organization, Fathers and Families expresses no preference for one candidate over another. We do, however, urge you to vote on Tuesday, January 19, keeping in mind that there are many important issues on which to judge a candidate, not just those of concern to Fathers and Families.

AXJ-USA: LA FBI UTILIZO A LLAMAZARES COMO BIN LADEN

El FBI ha confirmado a ELMUNDO.es que el retrato robot de Osama bin Laden se basa en una imagen electoral de Gaspar Llamazares, ex líder y actual diputado de Izquierda Unida.
Tal y como reveló ELMUNDO.es tras recibir la pista de un lector, una imagen de Bin Laden –sometido al castigo del paso del tiempo casi una década después de los atentados del 11-S tiene la frente y el pelo de Llamazares.
El retrato robot figuró durante horas - posteriormente fue retirada- en la página oficial del programa 'Rewards for Justice', iniciativa creada en 1984 por la oficina de Seguridad Diplomática del Departamento de Estado de EEUU para conseguir pistas que puedan conducir a la captura de terroristas a cambio de diversas cantidades de dinero. En el caso de Bin Laden, el número uno de Al Qaeda, la recompensa es sustanciosa: 25 millones de dólares (unos 17 millones de euros).
Aunque el sitio web depende del Departamento de Estado, un portavoz de Seguridad Diplomática confirmaba que la fotografía de Bin Laden es obra del laboratorio del FBI. Y fue allí donde el pelo y la frente del ex coordinador de IU llegó a formar parte de la cara del terrorista más buscado del mundo.
"Asumimos nuestra responsabilidad por la imagen del político español", explica Ken Hoffman, portavoz del FBI, tras reconocer su sorpresa absoluta con el asunto.
Acudió a Google Imágenes
"Nuestros artistas forenses tienen una amplia variedad de rasgos genéricos de la cara -ojos, tipos de pelo, etcétera- que pueden elegir del programa que usamos para crear estas imágenes simuladas. Por alguna razón un técnico en particular no estaba satisfecho con el pelo que ofrecía el programa, y por iniciativa propia decidió acudir a las imágenes de Google".
Según explica Hoffman, mediante la opción de búsquedas avanzadas de Google Imágenes, el técnico se guió por las claves "caras" y "una variedad de nombres islámicos" para conseguir caras con los rasgos adecuados. En una de las búsquedas -no recuerda cuál exactamente- surgió la cara de Llamazares y le gustó.
"Lo que hizo el artista forense es completamente irregular. Está completamente fuera del proceso establecido que se 'robe' un rasgo de una imagen pública en su totalidad".
Llamazares exige explicaciones
Llamazares se quedó muy sorprendido el viernes por la tarde, cuando recibió la noticia y comprobó en ELMUNDO.es que su pelo y el del supuesto Bin Laden son idénticos.
El ex líder de IU dijo que pedirá al Ministerio de Asuntos Exteriores español que reclame explicaciones de lo ocurrido "a quien corresponda de EEUU", informa Augustín Yanel.
Fuentes de IU resaltaron que esto ha ocurrido con un político conocido, cuya fotografía puede ser encontrada con facilidad y que tiene la posibilidad de acceder a los medios de comunicación.
Lo preocupante, indicaron, es que le pueda ocurrir a un ciudadano de a pie, que se encontraría indefenso ante la utilización de su imagen y, además, si viajara después a EEUU podría encontrarse con serios problemas e incluso ser detenido.
Llamazares ha criticado duramente los llamados 'vuelos de la CIA', que hicieron escala en aeropuertos españoles y en los que EEUU trasladaba a presuntos terroristas a otros países donde no se respetan los Derechos Humanos, para someterlos a torturas durante los interrogatorios con el fin de lograr su confesión. "En IU no creemos en las casualidades", declaró un portavoz.
Ante el escándalo diplomático, Hoffman dijo que el FBI revisará el procedimiento que se usa para crear los retratos robot y dijo que el artista forense será sometido a una investigación "para asegurarnos de que esto nunca vuelva a pasar. El Departamento de Estado dará una explicación oficial".
Por su parte, el portavoz también negó que se hubiera ultilizado a Llamazares por oscuros motivos. "Podemos confirmar que esto de ninguna manera se hizo aposta. No se trata de una acción en contra del político español. Dicho simplemente, el artista forense no tenía la menor idea de quién se trataba".

ESPAÑA CENSURA Y BLOQUEA WEBS!

- El Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado las medidas que facilitarán el cierre de webs con autorización judicial.
- La Sala de lo Contencioso de la Audiencia Nacional será la encargada de decidir si un página web debe o no debe ser cerrada.
El Consejo de Ministros ha aprobado este viernes medidas legales para la protección de la propiedad intelectual y los derechos de autor en Internet, que combinarán procedimientos administrativos y judiciales a cargo de los cuales estará un órgano de nueva creación, la Comisión de Propiedad Intelectual.
Finalmente será la Sala de lo Contencioso de la Audiencia Nacional la que decidirá qué páginas web de las señaladas previamente por la citada Comisión, deben ser cerradas o no.
El Ministerio de Cultura creará una sala destinada a la Comisión de la Propiedad Intelectual, formada por entre 4 y 6 personas: un juez de prestigio que haya presidido un tribunal importante, algún profesional del mundo de la tecnología, representantes de la comunidad internauta y también representantes de los creadores. "Ningún usuario debe estar preocupado o molesto por estas medidas", afirma González-Sinde
La Comisión se encargará de analizar los casos sobre páginas web que atenten contra los derechos de propiedad intelectual. Si se considera que la web está realizando actividades ilícitas, se enviarán dos avisos para que deje de llevarlas a cabo. En caso de que el portal no cese sus actividades, se enviará la denuncia siempre y únicamente a la Sala de lo Contencioso de la Audiencia Nacional. Con esto se espera crear una especialización que permita elaborar en poco tiempo una jurisprudencia efectiva.
Erradicar las prácticas ilegales
La ministra de Cultura, Ángeles González-Sinde, ha declarado que "la libertad de expresión e información en la Red quedarán garantizadas". Además, ha asegurado que "se trata de erradicar las prácticas ilegales de empresas y páginas web, que se lucran y benefician con la explotación de las obras ajenas".
"Éste es un sector económico estratégico para la transformación del modelo productivo que en nuestro país supone un 4,2% del PIB y que genera decenas de miles de puestos de trabajo", ha señalado González-Sinde, quien ha matizado que "ningún usuario debe estar preocupado o molesto" ante estas medidas.
El juez tiene un plazo máximo de cuatro días para convocar a las partes y resolver un Auto
El Ministro de Justicia ha explicado en rueda de prensa que el objetivo es bloquear las páginas web que atenten contra los derechos de los creadores. "Se mantiene la Comisión y se le permite recibir quejas de los ciudadanos, investigar si se producen actos lesivos relacionados con la propiedad intelectual y ponerlos, en primer lugar, en conocimiento del propietario de la página, y posteriormente en conocimiento de un juez que será quien decida si se cierra o no la web", ha explicado Francisco Caamaño Domínguez.
"Se ha escogido el procedimiento más rápido y eficaz. El juez tiene un plazo máximo de cuatro días, una vez recibida la denuncia, para convocar a las partes y resolver el Auto. Con esto se garantiza agilidad, eficacia y máximas garantías", ha añadido. El juez deberá además verificar que la resolución adoptada no vulnera los derechos y libertades fundamentales contenidos en el artículo 20 de la Constitución.
Estas medidas están incluidas en forma de disposición adicional dentro de la Ley de Economía Sostenible y con ellas el Ejecutivo pretende enfrentar las descargas ilegales en la Red pero garantizando los derechos de los usuarios, de forma que para el cierre o bloqueo de acceso a páginas web requerirá una autorización judicial. Todo esto hará necesaria una modificación de la Ley Orgánica del Poder Judicial, ya aprobada en el Consejo de Ministros.
Con este sistema, el Gobierno espera dejar tranquilos y satisfechos tanto a la Coalición de Creadores, representantes de la industria cultural que exigen una freno rápido y contundente a la piratería, como a la comunidad internauta, abiertamente indignada ante la posibilidad de que pudieran cerrarse webs y blogs sin orden judicial previa.
